Datacard Group recently announced its latest line of printers for plastic ID cards.
Datacard Group recently announced a new series of printers for plastic ID cards that reduce color problems and can produce clearer images on dual-sided cards. The printers can also laminate plastic ID cards if necessary. The company made the announcement at the ISC West Security Conference last week in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The printer’s designers focused on color clarity and accuracy when designing the printers to ensure that all photos on the plastic ID cards print without running. The company also designed the system to print on any number of surfaces. As plastic ID cards become more advanced and relied upon for security, card printer systems must adapt.
"These new card printers enable brand conscious issuers to maximize image quality and protect their budget," Connell Smith, vice president of hardware marketing for Datacard Group, said. "Retransfer printing ensures superior card results, while the printers’ simple, compact design makes this technology affordable for a wide range of applications."
In recent weeks several organizations have announced plans to print biometric images of fingerprints on plastic ID cards. Card printer systems manufacturers are designing new systems to make these features more feasible.
