A contactless smart card product is being used in Nigeria to empower educational institutions and those who attend them, according to reports. The contactless technology is designed to ensure that students, parents, management and administrative staff all have easy access to the latest school-related updates and personal information. The cards contain standard ID information and features E-Money for electronic payment of services on campus.
The technology is being created by SugarAnt Technologies and Idenizen Smart ware, who have collaborated on the smart card product. The smart card designed by the two security ID companies is already being used in more than 100 educational institutions in India.
As the technology expands, the companies hope it raises the quality of education across the country. Contactless smart cards have been introduced in some UK schools as a replacement for cash transactions in the cafeteria. E-Money put onto a smart card works as a secure payment system, while allowing the school to ensure that all services are correctly paid for. The system can also replace cash transactions for other types of services on campus.
