New ID badges have features that improve security and attendance policies
Secure ID software company Jolly Technologies recently announced the release of a new line of ID cards designed to monitor the movement of students in educational institutions.
The three new products offer ID badges with features that process and record tardy students, keep track of student attendance, and record faulty time in the building. The Track School Visitor Edition offers protective security that scans a visitor’s driver’s license and searches his or her name on national sex offender lists, notifying authorities of a match and highlighting the name for future visits.
Officials with the company explained that the new product line was designed to supply a market of educational institutions that are trying to reduce costs on attendance and security policies. Kurt Bell, Jolly’s vice president of sales and marketing, said "with continuing economic cutbacks, there are lower faculty/student ratios than ever before. There is less supervision and school safety and student behavior have become more serious issues."
He added that "providing efficient tools to manage these things is more important than ever."
Products that improve security in public schools are becoming important as more education authorities express concern over school security. For example, city officials in Detroit are making school security a top priority in response to recent violence in the city’s public schools.
