Students at Jacksonville, University will soon get their ID cards updated to allow for on-campus payment methods
Students at Jacksonville University in Florida will soon receive an update to provide a number of new capabilities on their student ID cards.
The school recently announced an agreement with a campus card service provider to integrate new capabilities on the students’ Dolphin 1Card program. The update will allow students to use campus cards for library services, dining hall payments as well as local off-campus businesses through a new account allowing students and parents to deposit money online.
The update to the official student ID card implements account-reading technology on the magnetic strip and allows for a debit-based payment method for on-campus transactions. The online account is available for transactions such as depositing funds, viewing account history and managing account information at any time. The agreement also allows Jacksonville University students to use their campus cards for payments through a similar system at the University of North Florida, which employs a similar ID card payment system.
Other Florida universities have upgraded their student ID card technology for new applications. The University of Central Florida has implemented functions on its student ID cards for payment solutions as well as security systems designed to prevent cheating on exams.
