Student ID cards at Bowling Green State University were recently integrated with local banking functions
Bowling Green State University recently announced a partnership with PNC Bank to integrate bank accounts and ATM functions onto the school’s student ID cards, according to Banking Business Review.
The agreement offers the university’s 24,000 students, faculty and staff members the option to link their BG1 campus identification card to PNC Bank accounts for purchasing and ATM functionality for daily campus activities. The two organizations made an overall agreement to provide free, hands-on financial education for the campus community. The program will be implemented at the institution in time for the beginning of the fall semester of 2011.
Campus officials recently explained the educational benefits of financial management applications on the campus’ plastic ID cards. Brad Leigh, executive director of business operations at Bowling Green, said "through this relationship, we are able to provide the BGSU campus community with convenient access to the banking tools and services that students need to help put enhanced financial awareness into practice."
Other colleges have upgraded their student ID program to include convenient financial functions. The University of Central Florida recently implemented a debit-type program with student ID cards to provide payment solutions for on-campus laundry, printing and even tuition.
