Scratch-off cards (also called scratch cards) are very popular in many industries. From gift cards, to lottery cards, to prepaid phone cards – these scratchable, gray-covered cards are a fun way of revealing hidden information.
Scratch cards are relatively easy to make with card printers, which can be equipped with monochrome scratch off ribbons.
To make your own scratch off cards, follow this simple guide:
What You’ll Need:
- Stock Cards
- Computer with Card Design Software
- Card Printer
- Card Printer Ribbon
- Scratch Off Monochrome Ribbon
Step 1. Decide on a card size. The most common size is CR-80 (3.375” x 2.125”).
Step 2. Design and print your card (using your regular printer ribbon), including the information that will be concealed in step 5.
Step 3. Remove your regular printer ribbon and replace it with your scratch off monochrome gray ribbon.
Step 4. Setup the scratch off areas within the print driver as well as in the card design software. Also remember to set the ribbon to ’K’ using the printer driver.
Step 5. Print the scratch-off material over the information you wish to hide.
